Mrs. Granson
I am so excited to be teaching at Barton Creek Elementary! I know this is a special place! This is my 13th year in education but my first year in 4th grade. I have previously taught kindergarten, 2nd grade and 5th grade. Before coming to Eanes, I had previously taught at Frisco ISD, in the Dallas area, and Marble Falls ISD. I also have taught at Valley View Elementary. After leaving Valley View, I served as a math coach and a differentiation specialist in Richardson ISD. Most recently, I was a 504 coordinator and a testing coordinator in Allen ISD. After being out of the classroom for awhile, I can honestly say that I am thrilled to be back in the classroom working with children everyday!
When I am not at school, you will find me with my family that I love! We constantly are busy and are usually attending some type of a sporting event. I am married to David and together we share 5 children. Tyler, 24, and Ryan, 7, are two of our daughters who live in the Dallas area. Tyler stays busy with her son, Tyren. Ryan attends a magnet school in Garland ISD and loves soccer and softball. Kylen, who is 20, is also in Dallas attending SMU and also playing football there. We also have two daughters, Ava, 12 and Ellie, 10, who both attend schools in Eanes. Ava will be a 7th grader at WRMS and Ellie will be a 5th grader here at BCE! I feel so blessed to be able to teach in the same school as her for her last year of elementary! David has recently started earning his doctorate degree from University of Texas at Austin. He also is the owner of G10 Academy, an athletic training facility, which is down Cuernavaca. David has also been an educator for over 15 years and previously coached at Westlake High School. I grew up in Indiana and most of the women in my family were in education. I guess you can say that the apple does not fall far! I initially studied biomedical sciences and earned my undergraduate degree in that from Western Michigan University. I later pursued my Master's degree in Educational Leadership form Stephen F. Austin State University. When I am not teaching, I love reading and read as often as I can! I also enjoy a morning workout, which I believe starts the day of right. It helps to focus me for the day ahead. Now, if I can get used to that early morning alarm clock again as school starts! I look forward to an amazing year full of fun and new discoveries. I believe that all children can learn and it is my job to be creative enough to help them achieve success. I love getting to know my students and learning their unique personalities in order to find a way to connect and build a relationship. I will develop a classroom culture that is safe and that will invite the students to take risks, which will allow for both success and mistakes. I look forward to a year full of learning and adventures! |
